Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, FL (April 20, 2006) - In celebration of the 15th Anniversary of Miracle Baseball in Southwest Florida Miracle Baseball will announce their All-Time Greatest Team during the 2006 season. The amount of talent that has played in Fort Myers over the first 14 seasons is enough to field more than on Major League team. With the likes of Torii Hunter, Brad Radke, Joe Mauer and many other great players that donned a Miracle jersey Hammond Stadium, fans will be asked to choose the All-Time Greatest Miracle team.
During the course of the season Miracle fans will vote for the greatest Miracle player at each position via the Miracle website at www.miraclebaseball.com. Each week, for 10 weeks, a different position will be featured on the Miracle web site and fans can vote as many times as they would like for each position. The Lee County Elections Committee will be out at Hammond Stadium on May 1, May 12, May 20 and June 7. Fans will use the new touch screen voting machines to vote for the greatest Miracle player at each position. All votes will be tallied and the results will be announced in the second half of the season.
"We have had so many amazing players come through Fort Myers and our fans have been treated to some great baseball," said Miracle General Manager Steve Gliner. "This is not going to be an easy vote for our fans and I'm sure everyone is excited to see who emerges as the greatest player at each position. We have a rich tradition of players that played here and made it to the Major League's as well as some great fan favorites. I'm just as interested as everyone else to see what the greatest team looks like."
"The Lee County Elections office is proud to be part of the Miracle 15th Anniversary Celebration and offer to all their wonderful fans the opportunity to vote for the All-Time Greatest Miracle Team," said Sharon Harrington, Supervisor of Elections of the Lee County Elections Office.
"We will be at several games during the first part of the season with our touch screen voting machines. And we are encouraging everyone, even the children to participate in this great event on behalf of the Miracle. We will also be providing the adults with an opportunity to register to vote, change information on their current voter's record, sign up to be a poll worker, learn all about how to use the touch screen machines or update their signatures in preparation for this fall's elections."
"Our Community Awareness Program will be available to assist one and all....look for our red, white and blue tent...and remember to VOTE!!"
The Miracle season begins on Thursday, April 6 at Sarasota and the home opener is Saturday, April 8 at 7:05 p.m. sponsored by Pulbix. Fans can get their tickets for opening night at any Lee or Collier County Publix and can upgrade their tickets for $2 at the Miracle office.
