Minot, ND - January 1, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets suffered a heart-breaking loss to the Indiana Alley Cats last night when they missed a 15-foot jumper at the buzzer, losing the game 102-101. The loss puts Minot at 7-6 on the season, although they maintain their 2nd place spot in the conference with a 3.84 quarter point average.

The Skyrockets took an early lead in the game, 29-26 at the first quarter break, but the Alley Cats rallied in the second and ended the half on top, 58-50. Desmond Ferguson and Ray Cunningham each had 17 points for Minot in the first half.

Minot won the third quarter by 2 point, and the fourth quarter was a battle to the end, with multiple lead changes. In the final minute of play, Indiana went up by 1 with a couple of free throws. With 40 seconds left on the clock, Minot and Indiana both missed opportunities, and Minot ended up with the ball in the final seconds. Cunningham took a 15-foot shot at the buzzer, but the shot missed and the Skyrockets lost the game by one.

Desmond Ferguson had 32 points in the game, hitting seven 3-pointers, and Ray Cunningham had a double-double with 24 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Minot claimed 3 of the 7 quarter points to maintain their conference lead on Indiana.

The series between the two rivals is now tied 2-2, with each team going 1-1 at home. The next match-up for the teams comes to Minot on Tuesday, and it is shaping up to be another heated battle.
