Minot coasts to victory over Xplosion, 122-97

PITTSBURGH - Janerio Spurlock netted 24 points for Pittsburgh (0-4), but Minot (3-2) played steadily through out and coasted to a 122-97 victory over the Xplosion in Continental Basketball Association action at Mellon Arena. Des Ferguson led six Skyrockets in double-figures with 31 points.

Minot sizzled from the floor connecting on 54% of its shots from the floor, including 11-18 from three-point range. They also controlled te boards outrebounding Pittsburgh 58-43.

After the Xplosion briefly held an early lead, Minot stormed back to win the opening quarter 28-17. The Skyrockets maintained control and went on to win the first three quarters and finished with 6.5 quarter points, to 0.5 for Pittsburgh.

Spurlock finished 9-6 fromthe field for a team-high 24 points. Isaac Jeferson addd 14 points and nine rebounds and Kevin Pittsnogle added 14. Newcomer Shawn Hawkins had 13 points and seven assists. In additon to Ferguson, Willie Chandler had 22 for Minot and Jitim Young tallied 20. Ray Chandler had a double-double with 15 points and 12 caroms.

The Xplosion return to the floor on Monday, December 11 when the Indiana AlleyCats return to Mellon Arena for a 7:00 PM tip.
