PALATINE, IL-- Today the Windy City Dawgs have announced the formation of a new professional basketball franchise that will begin play in the Chicagoland area in 2005. The Windy City franchise will play in the newly formed International Basketball League (IBL) along with teams based in 16 other U.S. cities.

The Windy City Dawgs have also unveiled its official team logo. The logo depicts a fierce dog alongside a silhouette of the Chicago skyline in front of a basketball-shaped moon. The Dawgs official team colors are Electric Blue, Vegas Gold, and Black. To obtain an electronic file of the Windy City Dawgs logo, please e-mail windycitydawgs@yahoo.com.

Joining the Windy City Dawgs in the IBL's inaugural season are: Akron, OH; Battle Creek, Mich.; Central Oregon (Bend, Ore.); Chico, Calif.; Dayton, OH; Des Moines, IA; Detroit, Mich.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Macomb County (Fraser, Mich.); Oakland, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; San Jose, Calif.; Tacoma, Wash.; Vancouver, Wash.; Waterloo, IA; and Youngstown, OH.

The Dawgs will play a 22-game schedule (11 home, 11 away) beginning April 9, 2005 at Waterloo and ending June 29, 2005. Windy City's home opener will take place on Friday, April 22 against Battle Creek. The Dawgs will play its home games at Harper College in Palatine. Please see schedule on following page for game dates and times.

"We are extremely pleased to bring minor league basketball to the Chicago area and to Harper College," said Team President Steve Zwemke. "Fans will find that the Dawgs will play an exciting brand of basketball and we'll have a great environment for families at an affordable price."

With two new rules, the IBL game eliminates dead time with an immediate inbound rule and one timeout per quarter. The result is a faster, more athletic game that is entertaining for spectators. While playing four 12-minute quarters (same as NBA), the typical time of game will only be about two hours.

The Dawgs are currently recruiting players and assembling a team for the upcoming season. The team will hold two free agent tryout camps later this month.

Season tickets are just $90 for adults and $50 for children (12 and under) and can be reserved now by calling the Dawgs at 630-898-2317.
