Evansville Thunderbolts News Release

It was an active night for the goalies in today's game, as both sides would combine for 91 shots on goal. Ed Minney would see the bulk, 50 in total, in his first ever start with the Evansville Thunderbolts. Despite a strong effort and a late comeback, however, Peoria would take the game, 3-2.

Shayne Morrissey would get the scoring started for Evansville on the power play at 3:44, from Beau Walker, as the Thunderbolts scored the first goal for the first time this season. Peoria would bounce back with a power play goal later, however, from Justin Greenberg. Greenberg would strike again in the second period to make it 2-1, and then Mark Petaccio would score against the Thunderbolts with a power play, with 1.5 seconds left in the second period. Down 3-1 in the third period, the Thunderbolts came on strong towards the end as Pijus Rulevicius made it a 3-2 game with a rush to the net at the 17:25 mark, from Brandon Lubin and Frank Schumacher. However, that would be the closest the Thunderbolts would get at the end, and Peoria would get the victory, 3-2.

Morrissey and Rulevicius picked up the Thunderbolts' goals, and Minney made 47 saves in his effort in goal.

The Thunderbolts next head back to Birmingham on Friday night at 7:30, before returning to the Ford Center on Saturday to host the Knoxville Ice Bears for Dogs Night Out, where you can bring your dog to the game for only 5 extra dollars!
