Minnesota Swarm's Darryl Gibson Added to NLL's East All-Star Team

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League (NLL) announced today that Minnesota Swarm defenseman Darryl Gibson has been added to the East Division All-Star Team for this weekend's 2006 NLL All-Star Game. He replaces the Rochester Knighthawks Marshall Abrams who will not participate in the game due to injury. Gibson joins Swarm captain Ryan Cousins on the East's All-Star Team.

Gibson, 29 (7/28/76), has recorded four assists and 38 loose balls in eight games with the Swarm this season. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman was acquired by Minnesota in a trade with the Arizona Sting along with forward Kasey Beirnes in exchange for a first round draft pick in the 2006 and 2007 NLL Entry Drafts on June 23, 2005. Gibson has collected 75 points (24-51=75), 112 penalty minutes and 426 loose balls in 89 career NLL contests with Albany, Toronto, San Jose, Arizona and Minnesota. The Toronto, Ontario-native is in his seventh NLL season.

The 2006 NLL All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, February 25th at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, home of the Toronto Rock. Face-off is set for 3:00 PM Central. KSTC.TV, Channel 45 will rebroadcast the 2006 NLL All-Star Game on Saturday, February 25 at 9:00 PM.

Arizona Sting defenseman Peter Lough will serve as captain of the West Division All-Stars, with Calgary Roughnecks' forward Tracey Kelusky and Colorado Mammoth forward Gavin Prout serving as alternate captains. For the East Division, Toronto Rock forward Jim Veltman will serve as captain, with Buffalo Bandits' forward John Tavares and Rochester Knighthawks' defenseman Steve Toll serving as alternate captains. The captains were chosen by the coaching staff of the respective East and West All-Star teams.
