
Minnesota Swarm Names Assistant Coaches and Director of Scouting

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. â Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill announced today that the National Lacrosse League (NLL) club has named Derek Moffat and Adam Muller Assistant Coaches. In addition, the Swarm also named Paul St. John Director of Scouting.
Moffat, 34 (1/5/70), most recently served as an assistant coach to Paul Delmonte with the Burnaby Lakers of the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League, helping lead the Lakers to the 2001 Minto Cup Finals. The Burnaby, British Columbia-native also served as head coach of the Burnaby Intermediate A club that finished as provincial runner ups in 1998 and 1999. Moffat also worked at lacrosse camps for the British Columbia Lacrosse Association from 1992-93 and the Burnaby Lakers from 1992-99. He spent three years as a player with the Burnaby Lakers Junior A from 1989-91 and nine seasons with the Lakers Senior A team from 1992-2000. Moffat also played one season with the NLL's Pittsburgh Bulls in 1993. Moffat is single and currently resides in Eagan, Minnesota.
Mueller, 38 (8/25/66), enters his 16th season in the NLL. He most recently served as head coach of the Philadelphia Wings for three seasons (2002-04), compiling a 23-25 record and one playoff appearance. He was named the Wings head coach on August 21, 2001 after helping guide Philadelphia to a 10-4 regular season record and the 2001 NLL Championship as an assistant coach. Mueller was named an assistant coach for the Wings on September 6, 2000 following an 11-year playing career. The New Brunswick, New Jersey-native collected 119 points (50+69=119) in 75 contests with Detroit (1990-94), Baltimore (1995-96), Philadelphia (1997-99) and Albany (2000). Mueller was also a member of two NLL Championship teams with Detroit (1991) and Philadelphia (1998). He and his wife, Susan, have three children, Addison, Autumn and Madeline.
St. John, 40, recently completed his second season as co-owner, general manager and head coach of the Ontario Lacrosse Association's (OLA) Ajax-Pickering Rock Senior B team. He served as head coach of the OLA's Brooklin Merchants of the same league in 2002. The Toronto, Ontario-native has been involved with lacrosse for over 30 years and has won four Mann Cups (Brooklin Redmen (2), Brampton Excelsiors and the Six Nations Chiefs), two Minto Cups (Whitby Warriors), the 1991 NLL Pro Championship with the Guelph Power and the Founder's Cup with the Scarborough Saints. He has his wife, Antonella, have a daughter, Ashley, and two sons, John and Joshua.
Moffat, Muller and St. John will begin their new roles with the organization immediately. As per club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
