
Minnesota Swarm Announces Transactions Prior to NLL Trade Deadline

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill announced the following transactions prior to today's National Lacrosse League (NLL) trading deadline. All transactions are pending League approval.
- The Swarm acquired a first round pick in the 2008 NLL Entry Draft and a second round pick in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft from the Toronto Rock in exchange for D Darryl Gibson and Minnesota's second round pick in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft. Gibson, 29 (7/28/76), collected four assists and 41 loose balls in nine games with the Swarm this season.
- Minnesota acquired D Andrew Biers from the Calgary Roughnecks in exchange for the Swarm's second and third round draft pick in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft. Biers, 24 (5/16/81), tallied nine points (2-7=9) and 30 loose balls in seven games with Calgary this year. The 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman notched 25 points (9-16=25) and 68 loose balls in 14 games with the Roughnecks in 2005. The Calgary, Alberta-native is in his third NLL season and has collected 54 points (16-38=54) and 144 loose balls in 37 career games.
- The Swarm signed F Dean Hill and re-signed D Shawn Summerfield to 2006 contracts, signed D Kyle Ross to the Practice Squad and released F D'Arcy Berthiaume and F Tony Henderson.
Hill, 21 (10/26/84), was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (48th overall) of the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-3, 225 pound forward scored 80 points (41-39=80) in 20 games with the Spartan Warriors of the Ontario Junior âB' Lacrosse Association (OJBLA) this summer. The Scarborough, Ontario-native ranked fifth in the league in goals and seventh in scoring. Hill will wear jersey number 73 with Minnesota.
Summerfield, 24 (3/16/81), has tallied one assist and six penalty minutes in three games with the Swarm this season. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound defenseman was originally signed by the Swarm on January 13, 2006 before being released on March 3. Summerfield will wear jersey number 33 with Minnesota.
Ross, 22 (5/12/83), was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (44th overall) of the 2004 NLL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound defenseman recorded 14 points (4-10=14) in 16 games with New Westminster of the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) this summer.
