Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth on Tuesday acquired forward Andrew Burkholder from the Rochester Knighthawks in exchange for a third-round selection in the 2006 National Lacrosse League entry draft. The trade is pending NLL approval.

Burkholder, 22, was a member of the NLL's all-rookie team in 2005 after tallying 17 goals and 14 assists in 11 games for the Philadelphia Wings. He won the league's rookie of the week honor three times. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound native of St. Catharines, Ontario, was traded to Rochester in August for a second-round draft pick. He has played in one game for the Knighthawks this season.

"Andy is a natural goal-scorer and has great touch around the net," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "We have confidence that he will add great depth to our left side and his ability to put the ball in the net will be a welcome addition."

The Mammoth released forward Gewas Schindler in order to make room for Burkholder on the 23-man roster.
