Minnesota Ripknees set to play in ABA

Published on October 24, 2007 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

St. Paul, MN. The Minnesota Ripknees are excited to announce that the team will return to the ABA this season with new ownership combined with last season's ownership and management. The new ownership includes Jam Entertainment, a company headed by attorney Steve Rodriguez. According to GM/Head Coach Larry McKenzie, "We are very pleased and excited to be back in the ABA. With a second team in Rochester (the Rochester Fire) and new teams in Illinois, it will make for great rivalries and easy travel for our players. This will be a great season and once again, we will be very competitive."

Mr. Rodriguez has a rich basketball history and is currently owner of three other ABA teams. "This just happened, so we are putting together our schedule and team and other plans that will all be announced shortly," added McKenzie. "We will be playing our home games at Roy Wilkins Auditorium. Season tickets and mini-plans are currently on sale."
