Minnesota Magicians News Release

The Magicians had a Home & Home series against the Midwest Division leading Wilderness on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the teams faced off in Cloquet at Northwoods Credit Union Arena, and the Wilderness were able to shut down the Magicians in goaltender Vaughan Ahrens' return from injured reserve. In the Saturday rematch at Richfield Arena, the largest crowd of the season turned out to support the Magicians in a hard-fought albeit losing effort. Despite the loss, the crowd remained lively throughout the game. In attendance were many students from the local area elementary schools, in addition to youth teams from Colorado and Texas which were in town for tournaments in the metro area.

Even with the recent struggles for the Magicians, the team remains in the playoff picture by maintaining their 4-point advantage over the Kenai River Brown Bears. The top 4 teams in the Midwest Division will qualify for the playoffs this season. In other words, if the season ended today, the Magicians would be in. Up next for the Red & Black will be a 2-game series in Minot on January 23rd and 24th, followed by a Home & Home series vs. the Austin Bruins on January 30th and 31st.
