Minnesota Magicians News Release

The Magicians hit the road over the weekend for a two game series in Aberdeen, South Dakota vs. the Wings at Odde Ice Center. Back in October, the Magicians swept the Wings in Richfield and they entered the series looking to expand upon that success. On Friday, goaltender Chris Amsden was a stalwart between the pipes, backstopping the Magicians to a much needed 3-1 victory. Saturday was a different story, however, as the Magicians gave up a couple early powerplay goals and Aberdeen was finally able to solve Amsden. Despite the loss, the weekend can still be considered successful as the team was able to collect 2 points in a tough road environment. Up next, the Magicians play a Home & Home series against the Wilderness, making the trip up to Cloquet on Friday January 16th and returning home to Richfield Arena for a game on Saturday January 17th.

Final Score: Magicians 3 - Wings 1

Star of the Game: Nolan Schaeffer - The rookie defenseman from Marshal, Minnesota scored his first career North American Hockey League (NAHL) goal in the Magicians' victory over the Wings.

Game Recap:

The Magicians capitalized on two first period powerplays to pull away from the Wings and silence 1,300 fans at the Odde Ice Center. After allowing a 2nd period goal to the Wings, Magicians goaltender Chris Amsden was rock solid the rest of the way, and empty net goal by Austin Jackson late in the game sealed the deal and completed the Magicians Friday night victory.
