Tuesday's Lynx game
lynx can't weather the storm
lynx 73, storm 76
Sue Bird tallied 22 points and Swin Cash added 17 points and 11 rebounds as shorthanded Seattle built a 17-point advantage before hanging on to beat the Lynx, 76-73, on Tuesday afternoon at Target Center. Anna DeForge's 3-pointer staked Minnesota to an 11-5 lead, but Bird's trey capped a 7-0 finish that left the Storm on top 20-16 after one period. Minnesota was held scoreless for more than seven minutes until Charde Houston's layup at 7:31 of the second, and Seattle enjoyed a 39-30 advantage at halftime. The margin climbed to 58-41 late in the third quarter before the Lynx closed with a 10-2 push to narrow it to single digits, and Seimone Augustus' 3-pointer narrowed the gap to 66-60 with 6:23 remaining. After Tanisha Wright rebuilt the Storm's lead to 12, Minnesota used a 13-2 blitz to pull within 74-73 on Vanessa Hayden-Johnson's hook with 1:23 to play. The Lynx then misfired on two attempts to go in front, and following a pair of Camille Little free throws, Candice Wiggins' last-ditch 3-pointer bounded away as time elapsed. Little totaled 17 points and seven rebounds for Seattle, while Houston led Minnesota with 16 points and Wiggins put in 14 points and six assists.
