
Minneapolis/St. Paul added to 2005 expansion teams

Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA CEO, today announced that the professional basketball league would be heading to Minneapolis/St. Paul in 2005. According to Newman, "We are very pleased and excited about have a team in the Twin Cities; it's a great area, it fits our divisional set-up very well and the ownership group is outstanding."
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Slamma Jammas, will be headed by two local businessmen, Maurice "Maux" Gavin II and Darin Peterson of Omaegan North American LLC. Gavin stated, "We're both businessmen and basketball enthusiasts. We've looked carefully at the ABA business model and feel that this is a great opportunity - and the idea of bringing this high caliber exciting brand of professional basketball at affordable prices is very appealing. Peterson added, "And I really think the fans will be surprised at how good these players are. This will be fun."
