Miners win again

MESA, ARIZONA –The Mesa Miners made it three wins in a row and took three out of four from the Fullerton Flyers at HoHoKam Park in Mesa, Arizona.

The Miners tied their longest winning streak of the season at three wins by beating the Flyers 4-2. Fullerton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning with a 2-run single by Garry Templeton II. Mesa tied the game at two in the sixth inning with an RBI sacrifice fly by Digz Edwards and an RBI groundout by Marcus Jensen. The Miners added some insurance runs by scoring a run in the seventh and eighth innings.

Winning pitcher for the Miners was reliever Jon Uhl (2-1) who pitched a scoreless seventh inning. The losing pitcher for Fullerton was starter Josh Stevens (0-2) who gave up three runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings. Kelly Johnson pitched two scoreless innings to record his fourth save of the season.

The Chico Outlaws make their first East Valley visit tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. at HoHoKam Park.
