The West Virginia Miners announced on May 23 the addition of two players to their opening 2018 Prospect League roster: junior outfielder Frankie Jezioro of Slippery Rock University and sophomore pitcher Hunter Sexton of Marshall University.

Jezioro will be heading into his senior year this fall at Slippery Rock University. He is no stranger to the Prospect League, having spent last summer as a member of the 2017 Kokomo Jackrabbits. During his time in Kokomo, he logged a .307 batting average with 23 hits in 75 at-bats throughout the course of 28 games. He accounted for 12 RBI, 4 SB, and 1 HR in last summer's campaign with the Jackrabbits. In his just-completed 2018 spring collegiate season at Slippery Rock, he accounted for a .337 average with 55 hits in 163 at-bats. Other batting highlights from his 2018 season with "The Rock" included 11 doubles, a pair of triples, 5 homers, and 30 RBI on the year. Jezioro is a switch-hitter and throws right-handed. He is from McMurray, PA, and a graduate of Peters Township High School; where he lettered three times in both varsity baseball and wrestling.

Sexton's spring 2018 collegiate season at Marshall saw the right-hander finish with a 5.11 earned run average with 29 strikeouts. He allowed 13 walks and gave up three homers on the season while hitters could only muster a .228 batting average against him. He is a graduate of Jackson (OH) High School, where he was a two-sport athlete competing in both football and baseball and lettered in both sports. He earned many accolades in baseball during his time at his hometown Jackson (OH) High School including, All-League 1st team in all four seasons, All-District 1st team in three seasons, and All-State for one season.

The Prospect League is the premier collegiate wood bat summer baseball league in the Midwest. It has been operating in its current form since 2009 while serving the summer baseball needs of top collegiate players. The West Virginia Miners, who play at Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley, WV, have been a member of the league since the beginning of the 2010 season. The team has reached the postseason playoffs in seven of their eight seasons in the Prospect League to date. These seven postseason appearances have included five trips to the league championship final series with three of the trips resulting with the Miners being crowned as Prospect League Champions (2012, 2013, 2016).
