
Miners hit six home runs in spring training loss to Outlaws

MESA, ARIZONA âThe Mesa Miners opened their spring training season with a 14-11 loss to the Chico Outlaws at HoHoKam Park this afternoon. The Miners' hit a combined 6 home runs, led by newly acquired first baseman Sean Bischofberger. Bischofberger, who was traded from the Surprise Fightin' Falcons late last night, went 3 for 4 with three home runs and 5 RBI in his Miner's debut.
Third baseman Michael Done hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game at 3-3. Outfielder Marcus Knight added to the power attack with a solo shot in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 4-4 and outfielder Chris Grant also hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. In all, the Miners' collected 11 runs on 12 hits.
The Miners continue their spring training schedule tomorrow with a game against the Fightin' Falcons at HoHokam Park at noon.
The Miners 2005 spring training schedule includes two FREE games at HoHoKam Park that are open to the public for viewing: May 17 vs. Chico and May 22 vs. San Diego. Both games start at 6:30 p.m.
