The Milwaukee Wave and Philadelphia KiXX will meet for the second time this season, the first time here in Milwaukee, on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. The KiXX won the first match on December 18th by a score of 6-3. The KiXX were led by Drew Kopp and Pat Morris with two goals each to seal the victory. Peter Pappas took the win between the posts saving 18-of-21 shots faced. Johnny Torres, Kevin Burk and Marcelo Fontana each had a goal for the Wave and Dan Green recorded the loss in goal.
Schmidt Shows Durability: Saturday's contest against the Baltimore Blast marked the 100th consecutive game (regular and post season) in which midfielder Matt Schmidt has appeared; this is the longest streak for a current Wave player. The Milwaukee Wave native has also stepped up on the defensive side this season, collecting a team high 21 blocks, placing him fourth on the MISL blocks list. Schmidt needs four blocks and he will reach the 100 career blocks milestone.
Wave of Kindness: The Wave of Kindness is an initiative that allows the Milwaukee Wave to connect with the greater Milwaukee community at large. For each Wave of Kindness bracelet purchased at $2.50 each, a ticket to a Milwaukee Wave home game will be donated to a local charity. The Wave of Kindness bracelet will be available this weekend at merchandise stands at the U.S. Cellular Arena during the Wave vs. KiXX game.
Last Action: 1-7-04 vs. St. Louis Steamers â 6-5 (2OT) L - The Milwaukee Wave and St. Louis Steamers battled back and forth Friday night at the U.S. Cellular Arena, before St. Louis' Sterling Wescott blasted home the game-winning goal with six minutes remaining in the second overtime period. The Wave was down 5-3 with under a minute remaining and was able to collect two sixth attacker goals by Giuliano Oliviero (14:06) and Troy Dusosky (14:37) to send the game into overtime, however, the Wave could not complete the comeback. Milwaukee was led by Michael King with three assists and Todd Dusosky with two goals.
1-8-04 @ Baltimore â 4-3 L - The Milwaukee Wave dropped their second game in as many nights, as they fell 4-3 in Baltimore to the Blast. Troy Dusosky, Todd Dusosky and Matt Schmidt each scored goals for the Wave. Goalkeeper Nick Vorberg suffered the loss, stopping 11-of-15 shots faced. Four different Blast players tallied goals, while Sagu earned the win in goal for Baltimore. With the loss, the Wave falls to 10-6 on the season and drops to third place in the single table MISL, one game behind the first place St. Louis Steamers.
