Milwaukee Wave United News Release

(Milwaukee, WI) – On Saturday, July 26th, Operation Brooke will take place at Uihlein Soccer Park to raise funds for cancer patients and to register organ donors in hopes of saving the lives of many individuals. The fundraiser began as an attempt to raise funds to help defer the medical costs Brooke Jordan and her family have had to endure over the last year and has turned into a full force fight for all cancer patients.

"There was no doubt in our minds that we wanted to be involved in Operation Brooke," said Krista Perugini, Milwaukee Wave/Wave United Marketing Director, "We were happy to help out in any capacity we could for such a great cause and we hope that people come out to Uihlein and show their support on July 26th."

At the age of 18, Brooke Jordan, who was a freshman at Northwestern University at the time, was diagnosed with Wilson's disease. This particular disease causes the human body to retain copper, which is then absorbed by the intestines and causes build up in the liver and injures the liver tissue.

A liver transplant was critical for Brooke's survival and within 30 days of her diagnosis she underwent surgery. Due to the depletion of her immune system, doctors soon discovered that Brooke had developed cancer of her abdominal cavity and subsequently needed to begin oral chemotherapy immediately.

In an effort to help assist the Jordan family, and all cancer patients, Operation Brooke was formed. The event is scheduled to take place from 12:00-8:00 p.m. at Uihlein Soccer Park and will include interactive games, inflatables and live performances by the Love Monkeys and BoogieMen, just to name a few in the line-up. There will also be silent and oral auctions, with chances to win such prizes as a Milwaukee Wave package, a Midwest Airlines package, a Milwaukee Brewers skybox and a Packers autographed football.

"We feel honored to be the host of such an important community event," said Brian Loftin, the Marketing and Sponsorship Manager at Uihlein Soccer Park, "It is nice to see organizations like the Milwaukee Wave and Wave Untied come forward to offer their support."

Wave United hosts the El Paso Patriots Friday, July 25th and Sunday, July 27th and will have the inflatables available at both games. There will be a charge to use the inflatables those days, with all proceeds benefiting Operation Brooke. Fans can also purchase raffle tickets at both games and need not be present to redeem their prizes. Donations can also be given at the Wave United fan information booth and the merchandise trailer.

Attendees will also be provided with information on the organ donor program and will have the opportunity to register to be organ donors. There will be a $5 donation charge for adults and a $3 charge for children.
