MILWAUKEE (March 21, 2012) - The Arena Football League announced that Milwaukee Mustangs wide receiver Jared Jenkins (6'3, 225, UW-Stevens Point) has been named as the Russell Offensive Player of the Week for his performance this past Saturday when the Mustangs fell short 71-65 against the Arizona Rattlers in their season opener.
The Milwaukee native emerged as a playmaker in the passing game, and Mustangs quarterback Gino Guidugli's favorite target. He finished the day with 13 catches for 211 yards and two touchdowns. He leads the league in receptions per game (13) and receiving yards per game (211.0).
The rookie hauled in nearly every ball thrown his way, including an impressive one-handed sideline grab on a ball that seemed destined for the stands. After two weeks of play, Jenkins is the only AFL receiver to notch a 200-yard performance.
