Saint John Riptide News Release

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats will get another chance to solve the pesky Halifax Rainmen squad tonight at 7pm at Harbour Station.

After defeating the Rainmen in Halifax 110-95 on November 16th, Halifax has now won four straight over the Mill Rats including last night's 112-106 win. Three of the four wins by the Rainmen have been by 6 or less points, making them all the more frustrating for Saint John.

"The last two games have gone down to the wire which is great that we're playing competitively," said Mill Rats Head Coach Julian King. "However we need to get over the hump with this team tonight at home, and we need our fans behind us to help us get it done."

Last night at the Scotiabank Centre, the Mill Rats held a narrow 28-26 edge on the road after the first quarter. A series of mental lapses found themselves down 50-42 at the half.

However in the fourth quarter, the Mill Rats managed to rally and take a 1 point lead on a baseline dunk by Kenny Jones, 91-90, with 4:59 remaining. But Seiya Ando's 10 points in the final 4 minutes, including two treys, proved to be the difference.

Raheem Singleton led Saint John with 28 points, Johnny Mayhane 17, Jeremy Williams 16, and Kenny Jones 12, Seiya Ando scored 21 for Halifax.

The Mill Rats fall to 4-10 and the Rainmen improve to 7 -5.
