(Charlottetown, PEI): The Saint John Mill Rats intense 4th quarter rally fell short on the road in Prince Edward Island as the Island Storm won 100-93.
Saint John led early in the first quarter, but the Island stormed out in the second quarter with a 26-17 margin to take a 7 point lead into halftime (53-46).
In the 3rd quarter the Storm lead ballooned to 20 points as the Mill Rats Anthony Anderson left the game with an eye injury. He would return in the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter, a Will Blalock tip-in plus the foul cut the Storm lead to just 96-93 with under a minute left. He missed the ensuing free throw, but after a steal Anderson had a good look at the game tying shot. But it rimmed out and Saint John was forced to foul to stop the clock. The Island made four free throws down the stretch to make up the final margin.
Anderson paced Saint John with 16 points and 5 others had double figures. Antonio Ballard had 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Storm. The Mill Rats drops to 1-1 on the season while the Island Storm are 1-0. For a full box score click here: BOXSCORE Uqw]
