Saint John Riptide News Release

(Saint John, NB): The apparent end to the NBA lockout curtailed ongoing negotiations with several NBA players, however the Saint John Mill Rats front office wasted no time bolstering their line up over the break.

The Mill Rats added 6'4 shooting guard Greg Plummer, 6'6 power forward Antonio Burks, and 7'0 centre David Collins, and in the process released Dele Ojo, Marc Egerson, Sherton Sanderson, and Sani Ibrahim.

Greg Plummer was named the Nike Tournament of Champions Most Valuable Player having won two league championships in New York City last summer. A 6'4 shooting guard with a sweet stroke, Plummer is a veteran of the U.S. minor league hoops scene as well as having played professionally in Mexico. This summer was a resurgence for Plummer, who sat out last season for 'intense rehab' after getting some bone fragments in his ankle repaired. He is now 100% healthy and hungry to prove he is back.

"Greg was an all-star level player in previous leagues and when he was on opposing teams in the past, he was a guy we feared for his ability to shoot daggers," stated Mill Rats President & General Manager Ian McCarthy. "We are ecstatic to have him in Mill Rats uniform and he will help us win games."

Antonio Burks is a 6'6 power forward who hails from Texarkana, Arkansas who most recently played professionally in Japan the last three seasons. Prior to that he won back-to-back championships with the Vermont Frost Heaves in 2007 and 2008. He excels at three point shooting 42.7% his last season with Vermont.

David Collins is a 7'0 centre from Toronto, Ontario who played collegiately at Division 1 Bradley University. He played professionally in Slovenia and Cyprus the last two seasons. Collins also represented Team Canada for the 2009 World Games in Belgrade, Serbia.

The Mill Rats next home game is against the Summerside Storm on November 30th at Harbour Station. The Mill Rats will also host the Oshawa Power on Thursday and the Halifax Rainmen on Friday night. Check the website for various promotions that are running each game.

Mill Rats single game and flex tickets are now on sale at the Harbour Station box office 657-1234 or the Mill Rats office 214-4454.
