Mike Young Posts Monster Game in Suns' Loss

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Mike Young had already enjoyed a career-game earlier this year by scoring 41 points off the bench. Getting the start tonight, he did everything he could to keep the Northern Arizona Suns in the game as they lost 138-126 at the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Young recorded 37 points on 15-of-26 shooting, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. It marked his second 30+ game of his career. NAZ fell to 21-26, while Santa Cruz improve to 23-24.
Young scored 8+ points in every quarter to pace the Suns, including a 10-point frame in the first quarter to keep the team within striking distance, who had fallen behind 24-5 after tip-off. Northern Arizona was able to close the gap within 12 points by the end of the first quarter.
Santa Cruz led wire-to-wire in this one, leading by double-digits most of the game.
Jabari Brown led all scorers with 40 points on 14-of-26 shooting, including 7-of-15 from distance, seven assists and four rebounds.
The best shooting team in the NBA G League in Santa Cruz shot off the charts again, finishing 52-of-94 (.564) from the field, 17-of-36 (.472) from beyond the arc and 15-of-17 (.882) from the free throw line. Northern Arizona shot 48-of-100 (.480) from the field, 8-of-33 (.242) from distance and 22-of-27 (.815) from the charity stripe.
Josh Gray notched 28 points on 12-of-22 shooting, eight assists, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Archie Goodwin had another efficient game with 24 points on 11-of-20 shooting and six rebounds. Starting tonight was Danuel House with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Peter Jok led the bench with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Recording double-doubles for Santa Cruz were Jeremy Pargo and Trevor Thompson. Pargo notched 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting, 12 assists and six rebounds. Thompson finished with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Off the bench were Avry Holmes (20 points on 7-of-14 shooting) and Kevin Young (nine points and 13 rebounds).
This was the last road game of the season for Northern Arizona, who finished 10-15 away from home. The Suns will play their last three games at home, beginning Wednesday against the Texas Legends at 6:30 p.m. PT. Santa Cruz next plays the Iowa Wolves on Friday against the Iowa Wolves at 7 p.m. PT.
