Mike Poole Perfect in Hurricanes Comeback in Cape Breton
February 18, 2018 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Halifax Hurricanes News Release
After trailing by 17 points at halftime, the Halifax Hurricanes came back to beat the Cape Breton Highlanders 108-104 at Centre 200 in Sydney on Sunday.
The Hurricanes couldn't find much offence in the first half and struggled with turnovers. They put that behind them after the breakthrough and went on a 41-19 run in the third quarter that put the Highlanders in their rear-view mirror for the rest of the game.
Mike Poole played a perfect game of the bench for Halifax. In his 18 minutes of action, he scored 25 points off a perfect eight-for-eight shooting, including three triples and went for a flawless six-of-six at the free throw line. He also came up with three steals and three rebounds and an assist.
Starting forward Billy White also contributed in a big way. He put up a huge line and controlled the paint with 33 points and 11 rebounds.
Fellow starters Antoine Mason and Tyrone Watson scored 15 and 14 points respectively.
The Atlantic Division-leading Hurricanes improve to 17-9, which gives them the second-best win percentage in the league.
The Hurricanes head back to Centre 200 in Sydney on Friday for a February rematch against their Nova Scotia rivals.
