Seattle Impact News Release

The Seattle Impact FC have announced the addition of midfielder Corey Maret to the team. Maret was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida but his family moved further up the state to Ocala when he was six. Receiving the nickname "Big Play Maret" while he was in high school, Maret has a multitude of impressive indoor and outdoor soccer accomplishments in the United States and in Europe.

As a graduate of Forest High School in 2006, Maret had played soccer for his high school all four years and set the county record for career goals and assists with 102 goals and 60 assists. Maret also made the All-State Team twice and Player of the Year as well during this four-year tenure. After high school, Maret went on to University of North Carolina Greensboro on a scholarship. During his time at UNC Greensboro, Maret helped the school's soccer team reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament each year he was a member. He also helped the team become the only team in history to have a losing record in a season and still qualify for the Sweet 16.

In 2009, Maret left the states to pursue a professional outdoor soccer career in Germany. In two seasons, Maret played for Lichterfelder FC 1892 and FC Hertha 03 where he earned some starts and scored some goals as a member of both teams. In 2011, Maret decided to come back home to the United States and played for PASL's Louisville Lightning., where he ended the season as the league's 2011 Golden Boot winner. After taking a year off to rehabilitate in 2012, Maret debuted as a member of the MISL's Pennsylvania Roar in 2013 but left the team after one season.

Despite the fact that Maret is rather new to the Pacific Northwest, he is very excited to become a member of the Seattle area community and of the Impact. "I feel blessed to be playing in one of the biggest fan-based cities in North America," Maret said. "I hope to stay here and make a career with Seattle, on and off the field, and help push us to win a championship in the near future."
