Strong Returning Squad for Lancers

Rochester Lancers News Release
(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers today announced the return of 11 players from last year's roster. Returning players include Mauricio Salles, Elliot Fauske, Andrew Hoxie, Pedro "Pedrinho" Franco, Gary Boughton, Jake Schindler, Edgar Bartolomeu, Joey Tavernese, Marc Sotile, Julian Myers, and Luis Enrique.
Brazilian forward, Mauricio Salles will return for his fourth season with the team. Last season, Salles overcame an early season injury to still reach over 40 points in scoring and lead the team. He will be rejoined by Andrew Hoxie, a Rochester fan favorite, who also struggled with injuries last season. Joey Tavernese will also continue the momentum of his best season as a Lancer yet. After finishing third on the team in scoring with 9 total goals and 33 points last year, he'll continue to bring offensive firepower to the 2014-15 season.
Returning to the midfield this season, will be Gary Boughton and Elliot Fauske, both entering their fourth season with the club. Fauske finished with 13 total goals and 32 points, while Boughton finished second on the team in scoring with 17 total goals and 40 points. Former Costa Rican futsal star Luis Enrique, will again bring his crafty footwork to the Lancers this year as he enters his third season with the club. 2013-14 Rookie, Julian Myers is also under contract with the Lancers and is expected to make an impact this season.
Defensively, the Lancers return a solid foundation of experience. Edgar, a former MLS player and MISL Champion, will return for his second year with the club. Brazilian defender Pedrinho, will return after recovering from a season-ending injury last year. Jake Schindler, a local fan favorite, and a staple in the back for the Lancers, will again return to the team after recovering from an offseason injury. Marc Sotile, also a Rochester native, will return after getting his first taste of MISL action last season.
The Lancers would like to wish the best of luck to former Lancers players that have retired from the indoor game to pursue other opportunities: Troy Cole, JP Rodrigues, Juninho, and Josh Faga. The team is still negotiating with several players.
The Lancers 2014-15 player combine will be held this weekend at Total Sports Experience at 880 Elmgrove Rd in Gates. Saturday will consist of two sessions: 9-11am and 2-4pm. Sunday's session will run from 10-12pm. Head Coach Doug Miller and his coaching staff will spend both days assessing top indoor players from around the world. Fans and media are encouraged to attend and get a first-hand glimpse of potential Lancers players.
