
Midfielder Billy Forbes to Return to San Antonio in 2015

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Wednesday, December 10, 2014) - The San Antonio Scorpions will bring back another vital player from their 2014 North American Soccer League (NASL) Championship squad after exercising a team option on midfielder Billy Forbes, Head Coach Alen Marcina and President/General Manager Howard Cornfield announced today.
"Billy proved himself to be one of the most exciting players in the league during his rookie campaign," said Cornfield. "We're glad to have him back in San Antonio for the 2015 season and I know our fans are as excited as we are to see what he does next."
The Turks and Caicos international scored the game and Soccer Bowl-winning goal in the second half of the NASL Championship Final against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers on November 15. Forbes led the league with seven assists in 2014 and had four regular season goals in addition to his important tally in the postseason.
"It is a great feeling for me as a player to come back to San Antonio next year, and I am thankful to God for giving me this opportunity, " said Forbes. "I look forward to working with my teammates, my coaches, and the front office towards another successful year for the Scorpions!"
Forbes joined the Scorpions midway through the NASL Spring Season and started 22 of the 23 games he appeared in. Forbes was named to the NASL Team of the Week three times, he was NASL Player of the Week once, he won the NASL Play of the Week once and was a finalist for the league's Young Player of the Year award. Prior to joining the Scorpions, Forbes played collegiality at Lubbock Christian University and for the Premier Development League's Southern West Virginia King's Warriors.
