Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
For the second consecutive day, the Chicago Steel scored first and last, but the Waterloo Black Hawks found the net more often in between, picking up a 3-2 win Sunday at the Edge Ice Arena.
Kevin Lind blasted in the first goal of the game at 5:33, but the Black Hawks tied it 36 seconds later. Brock Montpetit raced up left wing into the corner, centering a puck for Tyler Barnes waiting at the opposite post with an open side.
In the second, Derek Arnold flipped in his own rebound on a power play at 7:35. Montpetit added to the lead on a wrap-around with 17.9 seconds remaining in the period. The score remained 3-1 until Jake Chelios notched a power play goal 16:49 of the third. The Hawks held on in the final minutes with goaltender C.J. Groh accumulating 29 saves.
The Hawks won three games in three days. They'll play three in three next weekend too, visiting the Tri City Storm Friday before hosting the Green Bay Gamblers and the Storm Saturday and Sunday.
