Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC announced today that 17-year-old Austin FC Academy product Micah Burton is now on a four-year Major League Soccer (MLS) contract with Austin FC through the end of the 2027 MLS season with an additional option for 2028, after completing one (1) contracted year with Austin FC II in MLS NEXT Pro in 2023.

Having played for the Austin FC Academy and Austin FC II, Burton is poised to become the first player in Club history to represent Austin FC at the Academy, MLS NEXT Pro, and MLS levels.
Burton will occupy Homegrown and Supplemental roster designations on Austin FC's first team roster.
"I'm grateful to my family, coaches, teammates, and everyone who has helped me to this point in my career," said Burton. "To compete at the MLS level has been a goal of mine for a long time and I'll continue to push myself each day."
During the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season, Burton made 24 appearances (14 starts), recording two (2) goals, 15 key passes and an 85.3 percent pass success rate as Austin FC II won the league title. On April 16, 2023, Burton became the youngest-ever professional goal-scorer in the Austin FC organization when he registered his first professional goal against St. Louis CITY2.
"We're very pleased with how Micah grew and improved throughout his time with Austin FC II last season," said Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell. "He is a talented young player who we're excited to have as part of the Club moving forward."
Burton represented the United States U-17 Men's National Team at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia last fall, playing in all four (4) of the team's matches. In total, Burton has scored five (5) goals in 16 appearances for the Stars & Stripes at the U-17 international level.
Burton becomes the second Austin FC Academy product to sign a Homegrown deal with Austin FC's First Team, following Owen Wolff who signed with Austin FC in September 2021 at the age of 16.
