Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
MIAMI, April 30, 2007 - Miami FC's midfielder Sean Cameron was named Player of the Week (USL First Division), the United Soccer Leagues announced today.
Rookie Sean Cameron is off to a good start as a replacement for Brazilian World Cup legend Romário. The Rutgers product led Miami FC to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Seattle Sounders Friday night with a goal and assist.
Miami drew first blood in the 13th minute when Sean Cameron stole a pass in the midfield and jetted to the top of the 18 yard box where he unleashed a left footed drive, beating Sounders keeper Chris Eylander high and to the right.
The teams exchanged attacking opportunities through the first half with Cameron generating the majority of Miami's chances.
Miami kept on the front foot, taking the game to the Sounders defense and finding a reward in the 73rd minute when Cameron worked the ball into the 18 yard box on the right hand side of the field before cutting it back to Luchi Gonzalez, who converted to take the score to 3-2 in favor of the South Florida side.
