Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

Miami FC will have its full club on display this Sunday, March 30th at Tropical Park Stadium when the club hosts its first-ever tripleheader featuring its Under-16 team, Under-18 team and professional team.

The Under-16 and Under-18 teams face the U.S. Under-15 and Under-17 National Teams as part of their quest to win the Southeast Division of the inaugural U.S. Soccer Federation Development Academy tournament.

Miami FC Kendall's U-16 team leads the division and is still undefeated at 8-0-2. Miami FC's U-18 team is 4-2-4 and still has hopes of making up ground and qualifying to the finals of the Academy tournament.

Three Miami FC Kendall players have already been selected to play for the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team. Franklin Blaise, Cristian Gonzalez and Pablo Punyed were named to the final 20-player roster that traveled to the Copa Chivas Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico, that took place from Jan. 24 to Feb. 2, 2008.

Miami FC meanwhile will be looking to take an important step forward in its preparation for the upcoming 2008 USL season as it plays one of its primary USL-1 rivals, the Montreal Impact, in an important pre-season tune-up match. The Miami FC U-16 game kicks off at 4PM followed by the U-18 game at 6PM and the Miami FC match at 8PM. Admission is free for all three games.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for South Florida soccer fans to witness the present and future of soccer in the region and the country," said Juan Carlos Michia, the South Florida Regional U.S. Soccer Representative. "Miami FC Kendall U-16 and Under-18 teams are amongst the best in the nation and are important blocks of the foundation for Miami FC's pro team, other pro teams, the US national teams and other clubs around the world."

"For our professional team, this pre-season match against Montreal which has been training for several months and is fresh off of a 3 -1 victory over the Honduran National team this week will be a great opportunity to experiment with our newcomers, prospects and veteran players against one of the best fellow teams in USL. This will help me take some additional steps towards firming up our roster and starting lineup ahead of our first regular season game in 3 weeks," said Miami FC's head coach Zinho.

Miami FC will begin competition for the 2008 season on Saturday, April 12th, at Tropical Park Stadium against the Charleston Battery at 7:30 p.m. Season tickets are currently on sale by visiting www.miamifc.com or by calling 305-728-2612. Single game tickets are available through Ticketmaster or by calling 1-866-57-MIAMI.
