Miami, FL- Miami FC took another important step towards the postseason this Friday night at the Greater Atlanta Stadium. The South Floridian squad beat the Atlanta Silverbacks 2-1 and both teams are tied with 32 points in the USL First Division Standings.
In the first half, Miami FC took the lead. Romario scored his 14th goal of the season on an assist by fellow Brazilian, and World Cup 1994 teammate, Zinho.
In the second half, Miami FC extended their lead 2-0 on a well placed shot by Diego Walsh. The Silverbacks tried to respond and got a goal back when chaos happened in the box and a misplaced header by J.P Rodrigues sailed into his own goal. But Miami FC was able to maintain the lead and take home three important points from one of their direct rivals in the hunt for the play-offs.
"It was a great victory. We knew last Saturday that we could beat this team on the road, and today we proved it. I just hope we can corroborate our superiority at home on Sunday," said midfielder Diego Walsh after the match.
Miami FC plays the Atlanta Silverbacks for the fourth and final time in the regular season this Sunday, August 27 at 4:00 PM at Tropical Park Stadium.
