Miami FC takes third loss in a row

May 16, 2009 - USL First Division (USL-1) - Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

The Miami FC Blues finished their five-game-homestand losing a hard fought game against the Carolina Railhawks, 2-0 at Lockhart Stadium. Miami FC began the season winning their first two games and has since lost three games in a row. The Blues will now travel to face the Charleston Battery on Tuesday, May 20th.

Miami FC maintained possession of the ball early in the first half. The Blues produced a lot of their early chances on the right side of the pitch. Tim Merritt crossed a precise ball to a streaking Alen Marcina, but Marcina couldn't connect. The Railhawks would respond five minutes later with Daniel Paldini hitting the post on a one-on-one opportunity with Miami goaltender, Pat Hannigan.

The game would open up with the Railhawks executing several good counter attacks. In the 39th minute, Luke Kreamalmeyer would finish after a Gavin Glentson crossed, putting Carolina up 1-0.

The pace would continue in the second half. The Blues pushed their lines up generating more scoring opportunities, for example, a pin-point cross from Jack Traynor to Connally Endozien. Endozien couldn't connect on the header as the ball sailed out of bounds. Two minutes later, Diego Serna would unleash a bicycle kick that would be intercepted by a Railhawk defender.

In the 58th minute, Luke Kreamalmeyer, would find the back of the net once again. Kreamalmeyer crossed the ball into the small box; the cross floated in the top right hand corner of the goal, catching the Miami FC goalkeeper out of position. This gave the Railhawks a 2-0 advantage.

In the 70th minute, Miami FC forward Diego Serna, made a costly mistake by tackling Mark Schulte from behind. This lead to a controversial red card. This is Serna's 2nd red card of the season.

The Blue's showed some life playing a man down. In stoppage time, Connally Endozien crossed a promising ball; however, it ended up hitting the post, sealing the loss for Miami FC Blues.

Miami FC will play its next home game on June 14th, at 6pm, at Lockhart Stadium against the Austin Aztex.
