Impact Faces The Austin Aztex Sunday At Saputo Stadium

May 16, 2009 - USL First Division (USL-1) - Montreal Impact News Release

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact (0-3-2; 2 points) plays its second game in less than 48 hours and its fifth game of the season against the Austin Aztex (1-0-3; 6 points), Sunday, (3:30 pm; Radio-Canada, CKAC Sports, THE TEAM 990, USLlive.com).

The Impact is looking for its first win of the season. In its last game, Friday, which was Marc Dos Santos' first match as head coach, the Impact and the Charleston Battery tied 0-0 at Saputo Stadium.

"We have to be patient and go step by step but I feel that we are on the right track," said Impact head coach Marc Dos Santos. "We have to confirm Sunday the good things that we did Friday but this time by scoring goals. Winning is increasingly becoming an obligation for the team, especially at home."

"It's always tough to play two games in three days but we are used to it," said midfielder Rocco Placentino, who will play his 50th regular season game with the Impact. "We have depth in the team, which gives us the chance to have a good lineup every night."

"We have another good opportunity to get three points at home," said midfielder David Testo. "We have to keep building on what we have started lately. I feel that we are getting better every day."

The Aztex remain undefeated in the first four games of their history (1-0-3), which were all played at home. Three of their four games ended with a 1-1 tie.

"For us, to play against an expansion team is similar to when we played against all those teams of the CONCACAF and we did not know them very much," added Testo. "You try to be prepared the best way you can but in the end, you have to focus on your game and play well defensively."

"It will be tough against Austin because they are playing with confidence. Hopefully, they will get their first loss Sunday," concluded Placentino.

It is possible to buy tickets for Sunday's game at admission.com or by calling 514-790-1245, and also at the gates of Saputo Stadium, starting at 2 pm.
