Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

Miami FC debuted its newest faces in a 1-0 loss at Blackbaud Stadium. The Blues started a treacherous three-game, road trip that will continue in Minnesota at the National Sports Center this Saturday, May 23rd. The two Ex Cuban National team members, Pedro Faife and Reinier Alcantara, started for Zinho's side and created numerous opportunities for the team. The team also called upon Brazilian striker, Paulo Araujo Jr., who also played in his first game.

Miami FC opened the game with a Walter Ramirez cross that connected with a Reinier Alcantara header which sailed over the goal post. Miami would once again find a good string of passes coming from Pedro Faife and Reinier Alcantara. Five minutes later, Pat Hannigan would come up with a tremendous save to deny a Kenji Treschuck shot outside the 18-yard-box.

The Blues started the second half controlling the mid-field and generating various opportunities. In the 57th minute, Alcantara unleashed a shot towards the goal, only to be intercepted by a Battery defender.

In the 77th minute the Charleston Battery would find the back of the net. The goal came off a set piece; Darren Spicer struck the ball into the back of the net after a Nelson Akwar assist.

"It's tough to lose like this, but Charleston didn't create anything either. A zero-zero would have been a fair result. Soccer is not always fair, we have to regroup, focus, and come back strong for our next game," said General Manager, Luiz Muzzi.

The next game against the Minnesota Thunder will be the first time head coach, Zinho, will be able to call on the whole team. Diego Serna will be available after serving a one game suspension.

Miami FC returns home from their 3-game, road trip on Sunday, June 14th to play the Austin Aztex at Lockhart Stadium.
