Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
Miami, April 8, 2008 - Miami FC announced today the addition of New Jersey born midfielder Jarryd Goldberg to its 2008 roster. The two-time Big East Rookie of the Week and 2007 Pan American Maccabi Games Gold Medalist is expected to bring an outstanding amount of youthful enthusiasm to the team's offensive efforts this season.
Goldberg arrived in Miami about a month ago after sending in game footage to team management in hopes of finding a permanent spot on Miami FC. His hopes were later realized after participation in preseason drills; and impressing the coaching staff enough to earn him a contract.
"This is a young man who will definitely bring an impressive infusion of energy to our midfield," head coach Zinho was quoted as saying. "Absolutely another great pick up for the team."
Goldberg's list of accolades can be traced all the way back to his high school career where he amassed 30 goals and an impressive 72 assists, and was selected as the MVP of the New Jersey All Star game. He was also selected as 1st Team All State in addition to being the Somerset, NJ player of the year back in 2003. He later went on to begin his university career at Boston College where he played his freshman and sophomore years, and then later transferred to Boston University where he played under head coach Neil Roberts.
Boasting a vast array of international experience in the game; including stints in Israel, France, Italy, and Brazil the former Boston University standout feels he will blend excellently with Miami FC's multinational roster.
"I already feel very close with most of the guys on the team," Goldberg remarked. "I'm really just looking forward to being able to contribute to the team in any way that I can. I am very excited to be a part of Miami FC, and believe strongly in what they are trying to accomplish here."
Miami FC will resume competition for the 2008 season on Saturday, April 12th, at Tropical Park Stadium against the Charleston Battery at 7:30 p.m. Season tickets are currently on sale by visiting www.miamifc.com or by calling 305-728-2612.
