Miami FC Earns First Road Point

Miami FL May 23, 2009- Miami FC traveled to Minnesota and came away with a much needed point this Saturday night drawing with the Minnesota Thunder 0-0 at National Sports Center stadium. The Blues showcased their best road performance of this young season creating a lot of opportunities and showing come attractive soccer. Zinho's team will travel home before going to play the Vancouver Whitecaps at Swangrad Stadium on June 14.

The first half proved to be evenly matched on the field. The Thunder had their best chance at the 17-minute mark. Thunder mid fielder Lawernence Olum maneuvered around the defense and ripped a shot into the gut of Miami FC goalkeeper. After the Hannigan save, Geoffrey Myers collected the rebound and tried to chip a shot that hit the post.

Ten minutes later, Ricardo Sanchez unleashed a free kick that sailed just wide of the left post rattling Pat Hannigans goal once again. Leo Inacio Nunes had Miami FC best chance of the first half when his one-on-one opportunity was deflected by a Thunder defender.

Miami FC came out and played inspired soccer in the second half creating more offensive possibilities. Allen Marcina found Diego Serna on a precise cross but Serna couldn't come down with it. One minute later Serna would get another shot off that just missed the right post.

In the 88th minute Miami FC would string together three quick passes to create The Blues' clearest opening. Richard Perdomo crossed a ball into the box that Leo Inacio Nunes dropped for a Connally Ediozen shot. Edozien got under the ball a little to much and the ball floated above the cross bar, sealing the zero-zero draw.

"The guys showed a lot of character earning their first road point of the season. Both teams had clear opportunities but no one could put one away. We have a couple of weeks off before we travel to Vancouver, that will give us some time to get some guys healthy and work on tactical stuff incorporating our new guys," said General Manager Luiz Muzzi.

The coaching staff will have two weeks to before playing their most difficult part of the schedule. They travel to Vancouver on June 12, and then they come home on June 14 to play the Aztec. Afterwards they embark on another three-game road trip. Facundo Erpen did not travel dues to a minor injury. Erpen expect to be available for the game on June 12.
