Miami FC Continues its Road Trip
May 21, 2009 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
Miami FL, May 21, 2009- After playing a hard fought game against the, still undefeated, Charleston Battery, the Blues will now play the Minnesota Thunder at the National Sports Center at 8PM, Saturday, May 23rd. Miami FC will try to rebound after suffering their first road loss of the season to the Charleston Battery, Wednesday night.
"The team played hard and the new additions to the team looked fantastic. I think that for the first time we have the depth that is necessary to play in the USL. I'm excited to see the team play on Saturday," said General Manager, Luiz Muzzi.
Between pending immigration approvals and untimely red cards Miami FC has yet to boast a regular rotation of players. Pedro Faife and Reinier Alcantara waited for over a month for their international clearance. Most recent addition, Paulo Araujo Jr., finally got his passport and work permit after spending a year in the Brazilian first division.
The Minnesota Thunder has yet to win a game this season. The Thunder recently lost a tough game against the Cleveland City Stars, 1-0. The Thunder's roster has been plagued by injuries. Rich Costanzo is not going to play after suffering a dislocated elbow. Kevin Friedland, Andres Arango, and Brian Kallman are out with hamstring injuries, and Andrew Peterson is going to be out due to his ankle.
The Blues have one more road game before returning to Lockhart Stadium on June 14th, at 8PM. Prior to our next home game; the Blues will visit the Vancouver Whitecaps on June 12th. All USL games are broadcasted on www.usllive.com and can be watched free of charge.
