Cleveland City Stars News Release

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland City Stars hope to build upon last week's 1-0 victory over Minnesota this Friday as they take on former City Stars head coach Martin Rennie and his top-ranked Carolina RailHawks.

The City Stars' season began picking up momentum after a satisfying 0-0 tie against Portland two weeks ago, and the successful outcome against the Minnesota Thunder on Saturday showed they have no plans of slowing down. Joshua Boateng became the second City Stars player to find the back of the net this season with his impressive shot that earned the 1-0 victory, while Pato Aguilera tallied his second assist. Now out of the bottom position, the City Stars' 1-3-1 record sits them in 10th place in the USL Standings.

The Carolina RailHawks are currently ranked First in USL standings, with an impressive 4-2-1 record. Led by leading goal-scorers Gavin Glinton and Luke Kremalmeyer, the RailHawks have defeated several talented teams including the second place Rochester Rhinos, and have fallen only to the Portland Timbers and Charleston Battery.

RailHawks head coach Martin Rennie, who coached the City Stars to the 2008 USL-2 National Championship victory, returns to Cleveland with a sea of familiar faces. Influential City Stars players such as goalkeepers Caleb Patterson and Eric Reed, defenders Mark Schulte and Jeremy Tolleson, and forward Sallieu Bundu will all be donning the Carolina RailHawks kit for Friday's match.

Friday will also be Family Fun Night at Middlefield Cheese Stadium at the Bedford City Schools. Families are invited to come early and picnic at the stadium and the field will be open for everyone to play on until one hour before kickoff. Play the Family Fun Night trivia challenge and win great prizes such as an authentic City Stars game jersey! The first 300 people in the stadium will also receive free Charter One rally towels, and all fans can pick up a City Stars championship poster and get it signed by all players on the way out!

Friday's match will be broadcast live nationally on Fox Soccer Channel. The City Stars will appear on FSC again next week as they face Carolina in a rematch on Friday, May 29th at 8 p.m.
