Miami FC and municipal tie in a great match at Tropical Park

August 9, 2006- Miami, FL- Miami FC shined in tonight's match against CSD Municipal. In one of their toughest games of the season they stepped it up a notch and took on Municipal and JP Rodrigues had a spectacular header off a Jeff Matteo corner that sliced into the top right corner in the 18th minute. This was JP's first goal of his professional career.

Municipal put on a show as shots were fired from every angle of the field but they never capitalized on any in the first half. Miami FC put up a fight and had quick counterattacks that made all 4,822 fans jump to their feet. Many Municipal fans came out to support and were there to celebrate as well when Acevedo deftly received a Motta pass and managed to slip a goal right past Miami FC's Hunter Gilstrap.

Both teams fought until the end and Mario Rodriguez was determined to put the ball in the back of the net for Miami FC. A very close call came when Rodriguez received a lofted ball at the far post, but his header went just within reach of goalkeeper Paulo Motta.

This exciting international friendly game ended in a 1-1 draw but was full of excitement and well-played soccer.

Miami FC's next home game is against the Charleston Battery this Sunday, August 13 at 4:00 PM at Tropical Park Stadium.
