Mets Crush Miracle 9-0

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The St. Lucie Mets won their third straight game by stomping the Fort Myers Miracle 9-0 on Saturday night at Hammond Stadium.

Mets starter Tony Dibrell struggled with his command by walking five batters but he gutted through four scoreless innings. Mets relievers Conner O'Neil, Carlos Hernandez and Blake Taylor pitched the final five innings.

The Mets bullpen has combined for nine scoreless innings in the series. Fort Myers has not scored a run since Royce Lewis hit a homer in the first inning of Friday's game.

The Mets offense crunched out 13 hits, including four doubles and a Quinn Brodey three-run homer.

Carlos Cortes went 3 for 4 with two RBI and two runs. He reached base all five times he came to the plate. His two-out RBI single off of Miracle starter Melvi Acosta gave the Mets a 1-0 lead in the third inning.

Jacob Zanon ripped a RBI double in the fourth inning to make it 2-0. Manny Rodriguez belted a two-out, two-run double later in the frame to put the Mets up 4-0.

Brodey launched a towering home run to right field in the fifth inning for a 7-0 lead. It was his third homer of the season, tying Cortes for the team lead.

Cortes and Matt Winaker added run-scoring singles in the top of the ninth to finish the scoring.

Zanon went 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles. Blake Tiberi also went 2 for 5 with a double.

Cody Bohanek was 1 for 3 with a walk and a run.

O'Neil pitched two innings behind Dibrell to get the win. Hernandez pitched two perfect innings. Blake Taylor struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth.

The Mets (21-19) and Miracle (25-16) conclude their series on Sunday. First pitch at Hammond Stadium is 1 p.m.
