Mesa Miners to host San Diego and future Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson in free game

MESA, ARIZONA –Valley fans will have a unique opportunity to see future baseball Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson play for FREE on Sunday, May 22 at HoHoKam Park when the Mesa Miners take on Henderson and the San Diego Surf Dawgs at 6:30 p.m.

"We are so excited that one of our free home games during spring training is against Rickey Henderson and his new team, the San Diego Surf Dawgs," said Miners general manager Becky Thielen.Å¡ "How often do you get to see a first ballot Hall of Fame baseball player and not have to pay for it?Å¡ Fans should definitely make plans to come out to HoHoKam Park on May 22.Å¡ As the Valley will soon discover, the Golden Baseball League is an affordable, exciting entertainment option for the whole family."

Signed by the Surf Dawgs on May 9, the 46-year-old Henderson has played in 25 seasons at the major league level with the Oakland A's, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres, Anaheim Angels, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers. In his major league career, the 10-time all-star has collected a .279 batting average, 3,055 hits, 297 home runs and 1,115 RBI. He also is Major League Baseball's all-time stolen base leader having swiped 1,406 stolen bases in his career.

About the Mesa Miners and the Golden Baseball League
