San Antonio Scorpions News Release
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Tuesday, October 7, 2014) - Two San Antonio Scorpions players will each be representing their country in international friendlies during the upcoming FIFA dates.
Midfielder Richard Menjivar will once again suit up for El Salvador, adding to the six appearances he has already made in 2014 for his national team. Menjivar and his Salvadoran teammates will play 2014 FIFA World Cup teams Colombia and Ecuador at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ, on October 10 and 14, respectively. Forward Trevin Caesar will don the colors of his native Trinidad & Tobago when the Soca Warriors face the Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda in their upcoming friendlies.
"Playing for your country is one of the highest honors you can achieve as an athlete, and as always we are proud of our players when they receive the call," said Head Coach Alen Marcina. "We know Richie and Trevin will represent the Scorpions and Soccer For a Cause well on an international level."
Menjivar has 16 total caps for La Selecta Cuscatleca and scored his first international goal earlier this summer in the Copa Centroamericana. Caesar has two caps for Trinidad & Tobago and scored twice for his national side in Olympic qualifying in 2012.
The next Scorpions match at Toyota Field is on October 11 at 7:30pm against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The match will be the official breast cancer awareness game for the Scorpions and the pink jerseys they wear will be a part of the 2nd Annual Maggie's Wish jersey auction benefiting Wings; a non-profit breast cancer treatment organization.
