April 2, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Fans will have an early opportunity to meet members of the 2010 River Bandits during the 'Meet the Team Party' to be held in the Mediacom Sport Lounge at Modern Woodmen Park on Monday, April 5.

Select members of the River Bandits' Opening Day roster, including manager Johnny Rodriguez, are scheduled to appear at the event to meet fans and sign autographs. The party will coincide with the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship which will be prominently displayed on the lounge's seven high-definition flat screen televisions. Admission is free and doors will open for the party at 6:30 p.m. with tip off set for 8:21 p.m.

"This is a great opportunity for our fans to get to the ballpark early and get a sneak peak at our new team and our new field before the season opens," said team owner Dave Heller. "This has been such a wonderful basketball tournament, it's only fitting that the culmination of all the excitement of March falls on the same day as the team's arrival, marking the end of winter and the beginning of Spring."

The party will be open to the public without charge. Complimentary snacks will be provided as well as a cash bar. Fans will have the option to purchase a food package including hot dogs, hamburgers and other ballpark fare for just $12 per person. Donations will also be accepted at the door and all money raised will benefit the Keith Lucier Memorial Scholarship.

"This will be a fun evening as our fans get to see the some familiar faces returning and some of this year's newcomers," said River Bandits General Manager Kirk Goodman. "The team's arrival into the Quad Cities truly marks the start of baseball season and we're just as excited as our fans are to finally put winter behind us and get on with a great year of River Bandits baseball!"

The River Bandits will open their season on the road against the Burlington Bees on April 8 before opening their home slate on Sunday, April 11 against the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Opening Day will feature a giant Wii-ster Egg Hunt on the field, where the lucky youngster who finds the special egg amongst the thousands on the new playing field at Modern Woodmen Park will win a brand new Nintendo Wii. Tickets are available now by calling the River Bandits box office at (563) 3-BANDIT, visiting the Modern Woodmen Park box office or online at RiverBandits.com.

UP NEXT: Modern Woodmen Park is staying busy as a special events venue over the off-season, providing the perfect atmosphere for parties, corporate functions and more. Meanwhile, the 2010 baseball schedule has been released and fans can already put down a deposit on season ticket and mini-plan packages - including the brand new Super Seven Plan - right now by calling (563) 3-BANDIT.
