Meet The Stars

March 9, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL) - Arkansas Stars News Release

Fans of the newest team in the National Indoor Football League will have a chance to meet and greet the 24 men wearing the uniform of the Arkansas Stars on Saturday, March 11 th. Head Football Coach Raymond House and the squad, along with the Star's Cheerleading and Dance Team will be at Center Court at the NW Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville. The event gets underway at 1pm.

The team has a strong local tie, with nine former Arkansas Razorbacks on the 2006 roster, ready to make an immediate impact on the NIFL. "Fan response has been tremendous," says Coach House, "and it helps to have known names in Fayetteville on the squad. True, we're an expansion team, but I guarantee this team will be ready to compete from the first game to the end of the season. We'll open some eyes around the league before it's over."

Former Razorbacks on the Stars this season include wide receiver Gerald Howard, defensive back Harold Harris, defensive lineman Justin Scott, offensive lineman Nathan Ball and kicker Ryan Gullett.

Fans can sign up at Garfield's at the mall beginning at noon to compete at Madden Football Video and a chance to win $25 gift certificates and season tickets to the Arkansas Star's inaugural campaign. Garfield's General Manager Brad Owen says everyone is welcome. "Kids and adults can register to play in the competition or just play for fun against one of the Star's players. We've got three 25 inch TV screens hooked up to PlayStation 2, and we'll let everyone play 10 minute games. And it's the new indoor game on the screen, so fans will get a preview of what they can expect to see on the field this year." Owen reminds everyone that "you don't have to be 21 to enter Garfield's, so we look for a big turnout."

Stars players and coaches will sign autographs and greet fans one-on-one throughout the afternoon.

The Arkansas Stars of the NIFL will open the 2006 season at Montgomery, Alabama. The team will play its home schedule at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville. For ticket information and player and game updates on the Arkansas Stars, visit the team website at
