Medicine Hat Defeats Everett, 5-3

Everett, WA - Despite a hat trick for Jari Erricson, the Medicine Hat Tigers were able to pick up a 5-3 victory Saturday night against Everett. Erricson scored his first three career WHL goals to lead the offense for the Silvertips. Kent Simpson made 26 saves in net for Everett. Emerson Etem scored two goals to lead the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Everett scored the first goal at 9:26 of the first period with Erricson's first career WHL goal. Alex Theriau fired a hard slap shot from the right point that was stopped by Tigers goalie Tyler Bunz. The rebound bounced on top of the crease where Erricson grabbed the rebound and went low blocker side for a 1-0 Everett lead. Linden Vey scored his team leading 17th goal of the season at 15:25 on the power play to tie the game. Vey scored on a slap shot from the point that went off the inside of Simpson's stick and in. Erricson scored his second of the night at 18:11 to regain Everett's lead. Cody Fowlie made a great pass from the right wing to Erricson rushing to the net. Erricson got off a quick shot beating Bunz five-hole to make the score 2-1 after the first period.

Medicine Hat scored at 4:37 of the second period to tie the game 2-2. Tyler Pitlick received a good cross zone pass from Hunter Shinkaruk before the Tigers forward beat Simpson high glove side. Erricson earned his first career WHL hat trick at 5:58. Erricson parked himself in front of the net and deflected a Nicolas Walters slap shot from the point to make the score 3-2. Medicine Hat scored two goals in nine seconds to take their first lead of the game. Emerson Etem scored on the power play at 12:50 to tie the game 3-3. Dylan Bredo skated into the Everett zone and crashed the net hard beating Simpson low at 12:59 to give Medicine Hat a 4-3 lead.

Etem scored his second goal of the game collecting a rebound and tipping the puck over Simpson's right shoulder at 18:48 of the third period. Simpson was pulled with 24 seconds left for an extra attacker but the ‘Tips couldn't find the back of the net as Medicine Hat held on to a 5-3 victory.

This brings the ‘Tips record to 11-11-1-3 with 26 points in 26 games played. Everett takes on the Kootenay Ice this Tuesday, November 30th for a 7:05 pm start.
