Moncton Wildcats News Release
Moncton N.B. - It's official, Jeremy McKenna is back in Moncton and will re-join the team on Wednesday night as they host the Cape Breton Eagles at 7:00 p.m. at the Avenir Centre.
Following the Wildcats 2018-2019 season Jeremy singed a one-year contract with the AHL's Stockton Heat. Two days before the Heat's season started, they announced that they had assigned McKenna to the Kansas City Mavericks, the ECHL affiliate of the Flames. Since then, Jeremy has decided to return to Moncton and re-join the Wildcats to finish out his 20-year-old season in the QMJHL.
"I am really happy and excited to be back in Moncton; over the past three seasons we have been building this team to win, and this year there is a great group of guys on the roster to make that happen," said McKenna "I had a great summer training, I worked hard, learned a lot, and am looking forward to getting back on the ice to help the team in any way I can."
Jeremy will bring an immediate offensive addition to the team. Last season he finished top five in the league for points, and led all Wildcats in assists (52), goals (45) and points (97) in 68 games. As a 20-year-old veteran, McKenna comes back ready to do what it takes to help the team win and will be an immediate impact on the ice.
"It is great to have Jeremy back," said Head Coach John Torchetti. "He was one of our best leaders in the playoffs last year. He has a great work ethic on and off the ice, this is something for our young players to learn from and look up to."
