Waterloo, Iowa-The best scoring performance by Ian McCoshen during his three-year United States Hockey League career helped the Waterloo Black Hawks veteran earn a share of the USHL CCM Defenseman of the Week Award, the league announced.

"Last Saturday's game was back-and-forth," said Black Hawks head coach P.K. O'Handley. "We needed our best players to be our best players in clutch situations, and Ian was one of the guys who came through."

The Black Hawks edged the Sioux City Musketeers 5-4 in overtime. McCoshen assisted on the game-winning power play goal scored by Justin Kloos 3:48 into the extra period. He had opened the scoring himself 4:55 into the first period with his second goal of the season. Adding two other assists to the Hudson, Wisconsin native's total gave him four points in the contest. He also had a +2 plus/minus rating versus the Musketeers. It was the best single-game offensive effort by a Waterloo defenseman this season. McCoshen shared the Defenseman of the Week Award with Barrett Kaib of the Green Bay Gamblers.

Committed to Boston College, McCoshen now has two goals and seven assists during 16 appearances this season. At a cumulative total of +19, his plus/minus rating leads the Black Hawks and ranks fourth overall in the league. McCoshen was previously a Defenseman of the Week conferee on October 29th. His current award represents the eighth time this season a Waterloo player has earned either all or a share of a USHL Weekly honor.

The Hawks return from the Christmas holiday for road games this weekend against the Musketeers and the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. The next home game in Waterloo pits the squad against the Lincoln Stars on New Years' Eve. For tickets, visit the Black Hawks website to order online or call the Box Office at (319) 291-7680.
