Mississippi Braves News Release

Pearl, MS- In a game that was tied 1-1 most of the way, the Braves lost their grip on the Lookouts late by giving up three runs after the 7th inning and fell 4-1 to Chattanooga. For a second night in a row, the decisions went to the bullpens as starters Erik Cordier and Jesus Castillo both came away with no decisions.

The 3rd inning proved to bring the most drama in game two of this series. In the top of the inning, the Lookouts were able to score one run thanks to a sac-fly RBI from Eddy Perez to drive in Trayvon Robinson. In the bottom of the inning, Mississippi answered when Randy Gress scored on a single from Antoan Richardson. At the end of the 3rd, the game was tied at 1-1.

The score remained 1-1 until the Lookouts scored an unearned run in the top of the 8th inning. With Dee Gordon at third base and two outs on the board, Eddy Perez grounded to first baseman Mauro Gomez. Gomez never got a good grip on the ball and the error allowed Gordon to score, which gave the Lookouts at 2-1 lead.

In the top of the 9th, the Lookouts brought in two more runs versus Benino Pruneda. Ramon Nivar, who doubled to reach, scored when Dustin Yount singled to left field. Yount would eventually score as well on a sac-fly RBI from Trayvon Robinson. The two runs made the score 4-1 and the MBraves wouldn't recover, losing by that same score.

Tomorrow nights is the third game of the series and will see LHP Richard Sullivan (1-6; 6.14) pitch for Mississippi vs. Chattanooga's RHP Timothy Sexton (3-5; 4.22). First pitch will be at 7:05.
